Amelia Schwam

Real estate didn't just become my career — it became my foundation.

In my late 20s, facing financial hardship, I turned to an industry I'd watched my mother, sister, and uncle build their lives around. What started as a path forward became a calling. More than 13 years later, I still wake up every morning driven by the same belief: that owning a home can change the trajectory of a family's future.

As a veteran's spouse, I've lived the PCS moves, the rushed timelines, the stress of buying a home from hundreds of miles away. That experience doesn't just inform how I serve military families — it's personal.

I bring a builder's mindset to every transaction: focused on creating value, solving problems, and helping clients make decisions they'll feel good about for years. My job isn't to tell you what you want to hear. It's to tell you what you need to know.

Serving Colorado Springs buyers, sellers, military families, and investors — with honesty, local expertise, and genuine care.

Q&A

What inspired you to get into real estate?

Real estate has always fascinated me because it combines two things I'm passionate about: helping people and building wealth. Homeownership can change the trajectory of a family's future, creating stability and opportunities that can be passed down for generations. Real estate also runs in my family—my mother, sister, and uncle are all Realtors—so from an early age I saw firsthand the impact this profession can have on people's lives. More than 13 years later, I still love helping clients achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.

Most rewarding client success story

One of the most rewarding experiences of my career was helping a single mother raising a special-needs daughter sell her home during a challenging market. The property needed significant preparation before listing, and she was overwhelmed by the process. I connected her with trusted contractors, coordinated improvements, and helped create a strategy to maximize her home's value. Despite market conditions, we received multiple offers quickly and achieved a successful sale. The best part wasn't the transaction—it was seeing the relief and excitement on her face and knowing I helped make a difficult transition easier for her family. Years later, we're still friends, which means more to me than any commission check.

Builder's Mindset

I approach real estate like a builder rather than just a salesperson. Builders look at opportunities, solve problems, and create value. Whether I'm helping a seller prepare a home for the market, advising an investor on potential returns, or helping a buyer see possibilities in a property, I'm always focused on finding solutions and maximizing outcomes. I enjoy helping clients think beyond the immediate transaction and make decisions that support their long-term financial goals.

What do you do differently after closing?

Many agents disappear after closing. I believe that's when the relationship truly begins. I stay available as a resource for my clients long after the transaction is complete. Whether they need recommendations for contractors, advice on home improvements, market updates, or guidance on their next move, I want them to know they have someone they can call. Many of my clients become repeat clients, referral partners, and even friends because I genuinely care about their success beyond the sale.

Favorite clients

I especially enjoy working with first-time homebuyers and military families. Buying a home can feel overwhelming, and I love helping people understand the process, avoid costly mistakes, and make confident decisions. Military families often face unique challenges and timelines, and I enjoy helping make their transition as smooth as possible. Seeing a buyer receive the keys to their first home is one of the most rewarding moments in real estate.

Personal experiences

Life has given me experiences that have taught me resilience, compassion, and empathy. Those experiences allow me to connect with people from many different backgrounds and situations. Whether someone is celebrating a new chapter, navigating a difficult transition, or trying to rebuild after a setback, I understand that real estate is often about much more than buying or selling a property. I strive to listen first, understand each client's unique needs, and provide support throughout the journey.

What clients would say

I hope my clients would describe me as someone they can trust. I want them to say that I was honest, patient, responsive, and always had their best interests at heart. I hope they would say that I guided them through the process with integrity, negotiated effectively on their behalf, and used my deep knowledge of the Colorado Springs market to help them make informed decisions. Most importantly, I hope they felt genuinely cared for throughout the experience.
